Fire Prevention Education Team Leader
Jim Funk is an experienced Fire Prevention Education Team Leader, having led over fifteen teams across the nation. Jim is highly qualified to provide educational training using his fire experience with Kentucky Division of Forestry and the U.S. Forest Service, and additional experience with the Firewise Program in Kentucky and Virginia, to represent a broad diversity of viewpoints and perspectives in training students.
“I have trained and taught foresters, firefighters, and landowners for many years. My desire to reduce human-caused fires led me into wildland fire prevention. Throughout my career, the focus has been to solve prevention problems providing greater safety for residents and to teach others from my experiences.”
Forest Synergy is available to instruct a number of NWCG and other forestry education programs. The company contracts on a job or individual assignment basis.
Forest Synergy is currently developing forest education products for use in schools and other educational venues. Staff is trained and available to present developed NWCG courses. Forest Synergy and Leading Organizations partnered through the Gifford Pinchot Institute to complete the revision of the 32-hour mid-level fire prevention education course “P-301 Fire Prevention Education 2” course for the NWCG. Forest Synergy seeks to develop other courses of instruction.
